| VOLUNTEERS NEEDED |
Do you have 1 or more hours per month to help your neighbors in need? We at Faith in Action are looking for volunteer drivers to medical appointments (you choose how far), visitors, persons to run errands, do small home repair, light housekeeping, and shopping. All volunteers MUST pass a background check, provide references, and complete a 2 hour training. Drivers MUST have vehicle, valid auto insurance, car registration, and current drivers license. | WHAT WE DID IN 2010 |
In 2010, Our dedicated pool of 54 volunteers provided the following services
to low income Monroe County Seniors:
2028 total hours of volunteer services that included:
904 hours of relief to family caregivers, friendly visits, and telephone calls.
739 hours of transportation to medical &
dental appointments, senior centers, and worship services. We also transported our neighbors for shopping, errands, and local food banks.
205 volunteer hours to training, office assistance, fundraising, and public relations.
181 hours of home repair, chores, yard work and light housekeeping.
The value of these services to Monroe County seniors in 2010 was: $47,786
Since 2001 we’ve provided
$20,240 hours of free services
(valued at $334,457)
to help YOUR frail neighbors in need.

8th Annual
Spring Dinner Auction. Friday April 29, 2011. Doors Open 5:30 pm, buffet dinner at 6:00 pm. Fundraiser for Faith in Action.

$20.00 per person or table of 8 for $150.00
Live and silent auction.
Proceeds to allow Faith in Action to continue no cost volunteer services to our senior neighbors in need in Monroe County.

| WHAT WE DO |
We match volunteers of all ages with older or disabled low income adults
to provide a variety of supportive services. There is no charge for our services. Income restrictions apply.

someone stay in their own home
Faith in Action for Monroe County will work to find a helping hand for resident of Monroe County or anyone who is part of a Monroe County congregation regardless of religious preference. Priority is given to those with the greatest needs, although all elderly and disabled adults 60+ who need assistance to remain at home are eligible for services. All services are offered without charge to low income persons. Donations received are used to help us reach out to more people in need.
Someone with an extra hour can drive a neighbor to the doctor.
A busy mother could pick up a few extra groceries for a widow while she is shopping for her own family.
A youth group can get together on a weekend to clean up an elderly couple’s yard.
A handy person out for the day could take a few minutes to change a neighbor’s light bulb or install a smoke alarm.
A teen can stop in after school and read a newspaper or mail to someone who has lost their sight.
Even a person who is a shut-in themselves could make a weekly phone call to support another shut-in.
Everyone has a special gift to offer. Faith in Action for Monroe County provides the training and supports needed to help volunteers share their gifts and talents with others.
Through this program you have the opportunity to truly live out your faith by reaching out to those in our midst who needs your help the most.
